ABOUT US

HARRIET GRAHAM
Harriet was brought up on Dartmoor in Devon where she rode from a very early age. Her mother trained Point-to-Pointers and held a Trainers Permit. When she moved to Scotland in 1989, Harriet had the chance to train for herself, starting with one Point-to-Pointer in 1993 which won in its first season. Harriet rode herself in Point-to-Points in Devon and the North and she has also evented and Team Chased. In 1997, she took out her own Trainer's Permit in order to run some of her Point-to-Pointers Under Rules. In 2001 she had her first win Under Rules and ended up with 6 wins that season. In April 2004, she took out a full Training Licence and sent out her first winner as a professional in October 2004.

HOLLY - Unofficial Assistant Trainer
Her main duty is to supervise, to make sure that everything is being done properly. On the gallops she will dispense a severe verbal reprimand if we are going too fast or too slow! In charge of stable security when not on the gallops. Currently training up her daughter, Dinky, to take over when she retires.

Lofty On A High
Racing Post Fri 22 Apr, 5:09 PM

Lofty Leader came from last to first to take the opening race in clear-cut fashion at Perth today. Harriet Graham's charge has a reputation for being "a bit quirky", but he consented to put his best foot forward to beat Fearless Foursome by three lengths in the Scot Ads 'National Hunt' Maiden Hurdle. Wyn Dixie set off at a furious pace in the extended two-mile contest but he was collared on the run to the last by Lofty Leader, who had made relentless progress on the final circuit from the back of the field. Once in front Owyn Nelmes had to keep Mrs Graham's 10-1 chance up to his work to land the spoils. The winning trainer was represented by her husband Robert, who said: "We know he's got ability, but he's not an easy ride. It just depends what mood he's in because he's a bit quirky."

Harriet Graham is going great guns in her first season as a public trainer and Harry Hooly provided her with her fifth winner from just eight horses when running away with the two-and-a-half-mile handicap hurdle under amateur Rose Davidson. 'He's an absolute star,' said Graham. 'He's had a full two years off since he broke down. This is his track - he's now won four times here - and his sort of ground; he loves the mud.'

Double makes Graham star of her own TV programme
Racing Post Published: 31/10/2004 (Sport)

Harriet Graham, who took out a full jumps licence only in May, saddled her first double at her local track when Indy Mood and Rosalyons did the business for the trainer, who is based at Carter Bar near the border. Ciaran Eddery partnered Indy Mood to victory in the NH novices' hurdle and their four-length success foiled a major on-course gamble on Ball O Malt, who was having his first run for Richard Fahey and was backed to 2-1 favourite from 5-1. Ten-year-old Rosalyons, ridden by Rose Davidson, gained his fourth course-and-distance win when taking the handicap hurdle over the extended two and three-quarter miles. Graham, based on the Scottish side of the border, said: 'Everything has worked out perfectly for Indy Mood, as Fiona Gillie, who looks after him at home, celebrates her 40th birthday today and also sponsored the race. 'Rosalyons was put up 11lb for winning here a fortnight ago and I thought he had it all to do today. His form was so bad last season that we were considering point-to-pointing this year, and he was more a dog-walking horse. 'We have seven horses in training and the stable is going along brilliantly. There are loads of very steep hills in our area, and it helps to keep the horses fit.'

Emotions run high as Rosalyons does it again

Rosalyons received the sort of ovation reserved for the likes of Haafhd and Shamardal at Newmarket when winning the Clifford Firth Memorial Handicap Hurdle for the second time in four years. The 14-1 shot, trained locally at Jedburgh by Harriet Graham, was ridden by 7lb claimer Rose Davidson, who was landing her second success under Rules.

Hexham: Graham enjoys an unforgettable double
Racing Post Published: 15/03/2002 Colin Russell

Harriet Graham had a day to remember when landing her first-ever double, writes Colin Russell. Phar Echo provided her with her first winner over fences when landing the four-mile handicap chase, and Harry Hooly followed up for the trainer in the three-mile handicap hurdle. The former was ridden by Val Jackson and Harry Hooly by Laura Hislop. Graham has only four horses in training and has now won six races with three of them this season, and the other was second in a point-to-point recently.

Sedgefield: Harry makes it four wins for Graham
Racing Post Published: 24/01/2002 Colin Russell

Harriet Graham sent out her fourth winner of the season when 20-1 shot Harry Hooly landed the long-distance handicap hurdle in the hands of amateur Laura Hislop. Graham has just two horses to run under Rules, as well as two for point-to-pointing. "I don't buy expensive horses, most of mine are chuck-outs from other yards," she said.
